Duties: |
Luna’s Intelligent Systems Group is seeking an entry level engineer to support research and development of sensor technologies for structural health monitoring. This group conducts applied research and product development, currently focused on chemical, environmental, and mechanical sensing platforms. The responsibilities for this position include conducting experiments, performing data analysis, and reporting results. Technical efforts involve design and fabrication of test fixture, transducer design and assembly, data acquisition hardware and software setup, and data post-processing and interpretation.

Qualifications: |
Required:
BS in materials, chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering or more than 5 years experience in a research laboratory
problem solving skills to support technology development from inception to late-stage prototyping
willingness to work independently on focused tasks and have hands-on technical skills
good writing skills
demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team on larger projects
Desired:
Competencies with basic chemical, mechanical and electrical lab equipment, data acquisition, LabView, Matlab, 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks), and Microsoft Office
Due to government contracting regulations, U.S. Citizenship is a firm requirement.
