Programmer Analyst III

Duties:

•Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, lead high-visibility efforts and mentor junior team members.
•Demonstrate knowledge of algorithms, programming structures (linked lists, arrays etc.) and numerical analysis, be able to identify better ways to solving problems and coaching junior programmers to improve their skills.
•Demonstrate a strong initiative to learn, collaborate, be proactive in acquiring programming knowledge and skills, taking on new assignments and extending his/her knowledge.
•Take on project assignments by understanding requirements, producing solutions independently or managing a group effort, demonstrating accurate translations of requirements and reviewing results with peers and seniors.
•Partner with the Programmers, Project Managers and Business Analysts to understand changing business demands, formulate solutions and create an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork.
•Collaborate with senior Programmer Analysts and Architects to develop essential skills and knowledge, implement a learning schedule and demonstrate this knowledge by way of work product.
•Engage with the Development teams to document the architecture of the team’s products, including software functionality (SAD), integration points and platforms.
•Work in conjunction with senior PAs to establish a roadmap for the applications including new platforms, distributed/centralized approaches etc.
•In conjunction with the senior PAs, establish and implement effective requirements practices, including use and continuous improvement of a requirements process.
•In conjunction with the senior BAs, assist with the development of the team’s policies, procedures, and tools.
•Engage in projects in the following phase(s): Collaborate with the PM to understand requirements of code functionality; Translate requirements to code, including exception handling, status alerting etc.; Include performance considerations throughout coding effort; Include security compliance considerations throughout coding effort.
•Maintain an updated repository of reference documents to support project work.
•Lead discussions, present solutions and strategies to peers, Project Managers and Resource Managers.
•Mentor junior programmers as required.
•Participate in on-call support work as required by the business.

Qualifications:

•This position requires an individual with very solid, demonstrable skills in several programming languages, with the ability and desire to lead technical solutions, take on new environments and collaborate closely with the Enterprise Architects.
•Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field required.
•Advanced programming techniques (java, C++ etc.).
•System Architecture certificate preferred.
•The right candidate must have held the role of Programmer Analyst-II, Programmer or performed equivalent roles for at least 3 years.
•Proven ability to communicate with business users and technical staff.
•Proven leadership and coaching skills in a team-development situation.
•Proven ability to work in a project-driven environment with short/medium schedules.
•Proven ability to work in high-expectation situations providing leadership and collaboration to reach a solution.
•Proven experience at handling multiple assignments and using strong prioritization skills.
•Experience with requirements gathering tools (case studies).
