Duties:

The Secure Computing and Communications (SCC) Division at Luna Innovations Incorporated is seeking an experienced Senior Research Engineer capable of conducting applied research in a collaborative area environment, and engaging with relevant public and private sector partners to contribute to the developing needs in Information Assurance.

The mission of SCC is to support the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community programs through research, development, and operational deployment.

Qualifications:

Candidates with a PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering are preferred; however, candidates with a MS in relevant fields with the requisite knowledge will also be considered. A strong background in network and cyber security capabilities and emerging technologies and knowledge of network architectures, hardware and operating system theory, along with communications, networking and distributed systems theory, is needed.

Required:
- MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline
- Programming skills in a languages such as C, C++, Java, or various application languages is desirable
- Candidates should have excellent communications skills and a desire to work in an applied research environment

Desired:
- PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- A strong publication record
- Evidence of potential for procuring extramural funding
- Knowledge of parallel computing
- Practical experience in modeling and simulation
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance

Due to government contracting regulations, U.S. Citizenship is a firm requirement. Applicants must be able to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
