The WebApps team is seeking a PHP and Javascript developer in our Blacksburg, VA office. Our Webmail product is growing quickly and is one of our most-used client-facing applications. With Webmail, our customers can check their email, calendars, to-do lists, notes, and more. The Webmail product allows anyone with a Rackspace Email account to have a full-featured, desktop-like email and apps product from any standard web browser.
As a software developer for Rackspace, you will work on a high-energy team, writing great software by using the best engineering practices in the industry today (e.g., unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, design patterns). Passion for all aspects of software development is a must. |
Duties: |
Job Requirements:
* 2-4 years of experience with Linux
* 2-4 years of experience with PHP
* 2-4 years of experience with Web 2.0 technologies (Javascript, AJAX, CSS, SOAP, HTML)
* 2-4 years of experience with a relational database (MySQL preferred, MS-SQL, Sybase, Oracle)
* Advanced understanding of OOD (object oriented development)
* Good understanding of standard algorithms
* Advanced experience building small and large, multi-tiered, web-based applications
* Experience optimizing systems for stability, scalability, and efficiency
* Excellent communication skills
The most successful candidate will have the following:
* Familiarity with good design (patterns, cohesion/coupling, S.O.L.I.D.)
* Experience with Agile engineering practices (test driven development, continuous integration, pair programming, etc.)
* Advanced understanding of the following concepts: AJAX, scalability, performance, unit testing, database indexes, security, and caching
* Passion for learning
