The Rackspace Email Storage team is seeking a developer in our Blacksburg, VA office. The Storage team is an infrastructure team dedicated to providing a scalable, enterprise-class mail storage solution based on open source technologies. Uptime, secure mail backups, data center redundancy, and generally scaling our systems to support our quickly growing customer base are common tasks for this team.
As a software developer for Rackspace, you will work on a high-energy team, writing great software by using the best engineering practices in the industry today (unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, design patterns, etc.). Passion for all aspects of software development is a must. |
Duties: |
Job Requirements:
* At least 2-4 years of experience with Python
* Basic understanding of relational databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.)
* Good understanding of network programming (sockets, http, rest, xml/json rpc, etc.)
* Good understanding of Linux (filesystem, fs internals, kernel, memory management, etc.)
* Intimate familiarity with object oriented development principles
* Strong knowledge of testing techniques (unit, integration, functional, regression, etc.)
The most successful candidate will have the following:
* Experience with C
* Familiarity with good design (patterns, cohesion/coupling, S.O.L.I.D.)
* Experience with Agile engineering practices (test driven development, continuous integration, pair programming, etc.)
* Experience with parallel programming
* Experience with high performance computing
* Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
