Duties: |
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting ongoing interdisciplinary research projects and new technology development. The candidate will need to be creative and work with other staff to assemble prototype hardware and software systems to support on-going programs. Existing research projects include the development of novel wireless, electrical and ultrasonic technologies for materials characterization structural monitoring, chemical process control, and medical devices.
Duties will include assuming the lead and/or working as part of a multi-disciplinary team for various development projects, system and sub-system level design and testing, report generation, and customer support. The position will require design and customization of developmental systems to meet the changing needs of R&D programs. |
Qualifications: |
Required:
- BSEE and 3 years experience or MSEE in electrical engineering with specific knowledge of device design and development
- Proven track record in electronic design including experience with embedded systems (firmware, FPGA development, micro-controllers, state machines, DSPs), and analog and digital design.
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience with analog design, test equipment and current prototyping techniques
- Skilled in the use of test equipment such as data acquisition hardware, oscilloscopes, function generators, and spectrum and network analyzers
- Ability to document and relate technical information verbally and in written form to team members and outside customers.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced interdisciplinary environment
- Some travel may be required
Desired:
- Knowledge of embedded design & development, circuit design and analysis, and printed circuit layout
- Ability to program in MATLAB, LabView and C, C++, JAVA or Visual Basic
